Hello IBDers

IBD is one of the best experiences I had at Haas. The class is associated, in a lot of MBAs mind, with fun and travelling, sure it is, but is also an amazing learning experience. I did not only know three of my classmates very closely, but I learned also how to think of the client’s problem in a holistic way.

During our first week we met with many professionals in the client office from engineering, management, and marketing and we got three different views. One of the most important accomplishments we had there is to bring these different views together and facilitate the discussion to make sure that our client employees is on the same page. I forgot to say that we were tasked to come up with a visibility study for a new product in order to decide whether the client should go with their new product? Why or why not? We divided the task between the four of us and continued to debrief each other on our findings. Our plan was to gather the input we need from interviewing customers, market research, secondary research, and match that with the client capability; we started the investigation in Berkeley. We started to put a story about the product definition, and combined that with the insights that we found from the customers and build a financial model for the client. We shared our findings a long with the way with our clients to validate some of our assumptions and to make sure that they are in line with the deliverables. One of the classes that I don’t think a lot of students appreciated enough but was very helpful for us was PFPS. It helped us formulate our thoughts and come to consistent conclusions…Thank you Sarah Beckman, now I value your class much more than ever!

We use to work for very long hours typically from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, but also had a lot of fun during the weekend.

Speaking of fun, I am not going to talk too much about how much we had but I will leave the pictures speak for themselves.

1- Crossing Mountain Tanagerio; were the movie Lord of the Ring was shot. It was around 20 kilometters walk and it took us from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm to walk it and enjoy the scenery.

2- We also had a lot of fun skydiving

3- As a preview for the following we had a lot of fun snorkeling and scopa diving, but I will leave that to the next blogger!
